Sue Prince

Sue started playing the cornet aged 16 after previously playing the Piano and Cello. She joined Cosham Concert Brass and played in the National Finals (2nd section) during her first year with the band.

After four years at Cosham she left to concentrate on her studies and subsequently qualified as a primary school teacher. She then had a short spell playing for Portsmouth City Band until joining Downton Band in 1979 after her marriage to Martin.

Sue played cornet at Downton for twelve years, but stopped playing whilst her children were growing up. Daughter Joanne started playing the cornet at nine years old and was the first member of the family to join Michelmersh in 1999. Sue began playing again, initially to support Joanne, and joined Michelmersh herself shortly after.

They have now been joined at the band by husband Martin and son Nicholas.
