My Role at MSB: Flugel
When I joined MSB: November 2009
Most Memorable Banding Moment: The year 2005 when WCB (sorry) came 3rd in the 2nd section finals then went on to win the WBBA Championship section on Year of the Dragon!
Most Embarrassing Banding Moment: During a concert interval I made a very late decision to take a bathroom break only to come out and find the whole band and MD were on stage waiting! I then had to walk down through the audience to my own personal ovation (so possibly my favourite moment as well)!
My Personal Profile: I started playing, aged 8, under Ron Bligh in the Woodfalls junior band. Aged 10 I played my first contest as principal cornet on Indian Summer and joined the then Woodfalls 'B' band where I stayed on cornet till about 16 when I was moved to Flugel. Under the tutelage of Jim Cooper I managed to pass a NYBB audition on Flugel (although sadly had to turn down the chance to play with them) after which I took a four year break to drink bear in Cardiff! I resumed service with WCB shortly after graduation, moving onto principal cornet in 2002 where I stayed until the band's sad demise in 2009.
